Billy Lake was hired as Director of Prince William County’s Offices of Housing and Community Development in April of 2015 following a nationwide search.
Mr. Lake has worked for Prince William County for more than 35 years. He first started working in housing with the County’s Department of Social Services where he administered the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program (now the Housing Choice Voucher program) and managing the State Rental Rehabilitation Program.
He then served as the Community Planning and Development Division Chief for the OHCD. In addition to supervising staff and managing the division’s budget, he also managed federally funded programs, such as Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnership (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). He also designed and supervised the County’s Neighborhood Housing Rehabilitation Program, First-Time Homebuyer Program and the Dawson Beach Transitional Housing Program. Most recently, Lake was appointed Acting Director for OHCD.
Lake has sat on the board for the National Association for County Community and Economic Development (NACCED) for four years. He received his degree from Bridgewater College.
