    Located next to the Marine Corps Heritage Museum, and minutes from I-95, Locust Shade park offers much more than scenic beauty, tranquil water, and picturesque trails. Amenities include seven pavilions (available to rent), playgrounds, tennis courts, volleyball courts, 3.2 miles of scenic nature trails, a 15-station fitness trail, batting Cages, a driving range, an 18-hole miniature golf course, fishing in an eight-acre pond and the Jean C. Smith Amphitheater, an outdoor performance venue that presents family entertainment during the summer season

    Sign Up for Summer Camp

    Camp Wingapo campers are true outdoor adventurers. With access to miles of trails and an 8-acre lake at Locust Shade Park campers stay active, have fun with new and old friends and learn about the world around them. Each week, our camp schedule is made up of hiking, fishing, archery, mini-golf, and boating components.

    Science in the Park

    Science in the Park uses hands on lessons in our fields, forests, streams and lakes to teach children ages 5-13 about ecosystems. Topics cover animals, plants, habitats, watersheds, conservation and more.

    Go Fish or Rent a Boat

    Locust Shade’s eight-acre pond is stocked with trout and channel catfish. There are also native populations of blue gill, largemouth bass and crappie. Fishing is from the bank or ADA accessible pier. Pedal boats and canoes are available on weekends from May through September.

    Our amphitheater presents family entertainment during the late spring and summer months, with bench seating that is protected by a colorful shade structure. Additional seating is available on the gently sloping grass area. Picnic-style foods and soft beverages are permitted in the amphitheater area (no alcoholic beverages, please.) Videotaping of any performance is strictly forbidden.
