Mission Statement
The Office of Community Safety (OCS) is dedicated to cultivating safe and secure communities through prevention and intervention, utilizing a holistic and trauma-informed approach. Guided by evidence-based decision-making, OCS focuses on interrupting the underlying factors contributing to violence and improving life outcomes through the co-production of community safety.
Community safety is the ecosystem of residents, community-based organizations, businesses, and government all working together to create a thriving and secure environment. In this ecosystem, there is a collective effort to create empowering spaces that factor in the physical, social, and emotional dimensions of safety, emphasizing proactive interventions, preventative care, shared well-bring, and collaboration. In our vision of community safety, everyone plays a vital role in building a community where safety is interwoven into our daily lives and where every member feels connected and safe.
