Board Commends Prince William Police Department Capt. Philip J. Cecere

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently commended Capt. Philip J. Cecere for 34 years of service to the Prince William County Police Department.

Cecere, who grew up in Prince William County and graduated from Gar-Field High School, joined the Police Department as a Police Officer in 1984.

During his career, Cecere, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, served in numerous assignments including Operations, Criminal Investigations, Special Operations, and the Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy.

Cecere’s committee assignments include the Department’s 50th Anniversary Committee and Succession Planning Committee, as well as the Regional High Threat Response Committee, Northern Virginia Major Crimes Terror Coordination Committee, and Community Criminal Justice Board.

In addition to the many awards and commendations Cecere earned during his career, he is also a recipient of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce’s Valor Award.

Cecere made it a priority to instruct and develop younger officers to ensure the continued success of the Department.

According to the Board commendation, Cecere “made a positive impact in every assignment he has held, always looking for ways to improve the Department’s ability to provide quality services to the community.”
