Prince William Board of County Supervisors Recognizes Black History Month

February is nationally recognized as Black History Month, when people across the United States are encouraged to celebrate the history, heritage and accomplishments of Black Americans past and present.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently proclaimed February 2023 as Black History Month in Prince William County as a positive way to recognize the culture and history of African Americans as vital to the core beliefs and values of the county and nation.

Prince William County has been enriched by the many Black residents who have lived and worked to make the community what it is today. The observance of Black History Month calls attention to the continued need for education regarding the Black experience in the United States and the commonwealth at large.

In its proclamation, the board encouraged people across the county to participate in recognizing the past and present accomplishments, history and heritage of African Americans.
