Prince William County Community Services Awards Contract for the Crisis Receiving Center

After issuing a request for proposals, Prince William County Community Services has selected Connections Health Solutions (Connections) as the Crisis Now Vendor to operate the county’s new Prince William Crisis Receiving Center (CRC).

While Community Services reviewed other qualified responses to the RFP, Connections, a nationally recognized leader in behavioral health crisis care, was selected based on their extensive experience, knowledge and alignment to the shared vision to change how the community sees, treats and supports those experiencing a mental health crisis. Connections demonstrated knowledge of Virginia licensing regulations and a strong willingness to understand and meet the needs of the community. Through their research of these service regulations and requirements, they proposed an option to exceed the Phase 1 Plan of eight 23-hr observation chairs and eight Crisis Stabilization beds through generating revenue to have the full vision for the adult unit of 16 23-hour observation chairs and 16 Crisis Stabilization beds.

“Our selection of Connections brings the reality of establishing the CRC into greater focus,” remarked Chair At-Large Ann Wheeler. “With nearly 30 years of experience providing mental and behavioral health care to diverse communities, Prince William County residents in need of CRC services will be in good hands.”

Connections will begin working with Community Services’ Facility Department on the design and buildout of the facility, with an anticipated opening in fall 2023. The facility will be located at the old Gander Mountain building in Woodbridge. The $11.9 million needed to open the CRC came from federal, state and local sources.

“We are excited to be working with the Prince William Community and are extremely impressed how much the county has accomplished in gathering alignment, the location and vision for the CRC,” said Morgan Matthews, VP, Business Development at Connections. “We are honored to work alongside Community Services to bring their vision to life and help members of the community get access to high-quality treatment and care.”
