Strengthening Families Through Parent Education Classes

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Prince William Unit, or VCE, offers a range of parenting classes that helps parents identify potential parenting struggles and navigate the often challenging job of raising children. 

The Parent Education class is a Prince William County court-approved program that teaches parents new skills to help limit the emotional strain of parenting, to improve family communication and to identify risky teen behavior that often leads to court involvement. 

The popular Systematic Training for Effective Parenting is a seven-session class that teaches child development, communications skills, self-esteem building and acceptable discipline.

The sought-after Juvenile Justice Parenting Program is a seven-session class for parents and a six-session class for teens. This class will teach parents how to identify risky teen behaviors. The teen class explains how to handle peer pressure, make positive choices, manage anger, stop bullies and drug prevention.

When Families Get Angry is a comprehensive three session class that teaches new skills for improving communication between parents, family and their children.

Class registration is $40.00. Parents that share a class book pay one fee. Registration is required. Classes are taught in one of three formats: Zoom, Spanish or in-person.
