The benefits for kids who play sports are numerous—from the physical and mental health benefits, to the opportunity it provides to build social skills and other life skills alongside their peers, to the outlet it provides for them to just have some fun. There are so many life-changing benefits that come from playing sports.

Prince William County Parks and Recreation provides numerous sports clinics throughout the year in volleyball, basketball, soccer and even pickleball (ages 16+). Whether your child is a beginner looking to get involved in a sport, or a more seasoned athlete looking to improve their skills, we can help. Check out our upcoming sports clinics below that still have spots available.*

*Please note due to the popularity of our sports clinics they fill up quickly. There are other clinics going on, but many are already full or have waitlists. You can view those here if you wish to be added to the waitlist.

BASKETBALL
Basketball Skills Clinic: Ages 4-5, Saturdays, 10/28 – 12/16, Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center

In this class, children ages 4-5 will begin to learn the fundamentals of basketball. Our instructors will guide participants through different drills that will be geared to improve ball handling, shooting, passing, defensive stance and more. Each session has been designed to engage your child in game-like situations and progress towards scrimmages. (No class November 11 and November 25.) Class is almost full, register today.

Adapted Basketball Skills Training Program: Ages 8+, Wednesdays, 11/1 - 11/22, Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center

This program is designed for individuals with disabilities and will help them hone their basketball skills. Participants will learn to improve their shot, get a better defensive stance, work on dribbling and make crisper passes. Register today.

VOLLEYBALL
Advanced Volleyball Skills Clinic: Ages 8-15, Sundays, 10/29 – 12/10, Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center

This advanced clinic is designed for players to refine their fundamental skills while being introduced to advanced level skills such as jump serves. Accuracy of passing will be joined by the new skills of blocking and diving to become vital pieces of the game. Players will be put in game scenarios to improve their reactions, coordination and teamwork. (No class November 26.) Get registered today.

Advanced Volleyball Clinic: Ages 10-16, Wednesdays 11/1 – 12/13, Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center

In this advanced clinic, our instructors will guide young athletes through different drills tailored to improve overall knowledge of the sport and enhance performance. Sessions have been designed to engage your child in defensive and offensive situations and to progress in their skill set. This class is designed for players with experience in volleyball. PICKLEBALL
Pickleball Level 3: Ages 16+, Mondays, 11/6 – 12/18, Veterans Memorial Park

This advanced level class focuses on how to play the game more strategically and to fine tune your pickleball skills. Prior playing experience of level 2 or similar experience required. Balls will be provided but attendees must bring their own paddle. Tennis shoes are required. Register here.
