The Prince William County Department of Transportation received grant technical assistance from the Transportation & Land Use Connections (TLC) program, administered by the Transportation Planning Board (TPB), for planning study projects that promote walkable, mixed-use communities with a variety of transportation alternatives. Recent studies include:

Innovation Park Town Center Shuttle Service Feasibility Study

This study analyzed alternatives and provided recommendations for a phased approach to providing transit service in the Innovation Park Small Area Plan. Transit services include microtransit, fixed service and autonomous vehicle shuttles, and are proposed to serve key destinations, including the VRE Broad Run Station, George Mason University and Innovation Park employment centers.

Prince William County Peak Hour Express Bus Study

The purpose of this study was to identify bus priority treatments for key travel corridors leading to I-95 in Dale City, to reduce travel delays between commuter lots and the I-95 corridor and promote bus and high-occupancy vehicle travel. The study recommended short, medium and long term implementation strategies, including traffic signal priority for transit and dedicated bus only lanes during peak travel periods, to improve transit travel times in Eastern Prince William.

Prince William County Safe Routes to School (SRTS)

This study focused on improving safe pedestrian and bicycle access to schools for students at twelve schools located within the Small Area Plan areas of Gainesville/Route 29, Yorkshire and North Woodbridge . The study analyzed existing gaps in pedestrian and bicycle connections, developed priority route criteria and recommended improvement projects.

SRTS Study
