Early Intervention Month - May 2021

  May 1, 2021

Hello, and Happy Early Intervention month!

May is Early Intervention (EI) month and as we continue to navigate what we hope are the final stages of the public health emergency due to COVID-19, we all want a reason to be happy and celebrate.  So, here at the Infant and Toddler Connection of Greater Prince William, also known as Early Intervention, we chose to celebrate all our infants, toddlers, their caregivers, and our staff.

This last year has been challenging in so many ways.  We have learned a lot though, especially related to the benefits of technology and coaching caregivers in helping your child achieves the goals you set with us at the beginning of your EI journey.  We have all experienced added stress this past year for so many reasons, which shines a light on the need to attend to the social emotional development of our children and every member of each of our families and the community at large.

We were very fortunate this past year to bring on a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to our staff, Cora Smayda, who will help the EI Team to focus on Infant Mental Health among other things.

Cora has put together some thoughts to consider as we continue to navigate the public health emergency and prepare to get back to what will be a new normal in the coming months.  I think you will find these suggestions can apply to daily life beyond the pandemic though and we hope they will be useful to you.  Please click on the link below.

If you have a child from birth to 3 years’ old and have some questions about possible developmental delays and would like to learn more about what our program offers, please give us call at 703-792-7879 to speak with one of our Intake Coordinators.

Stay healthy and Happy Early Intervention Month!

   All the best,
