The Parent Education Program of Prince William Cooperative Extension has an opportunity for Volunteers, who are interested in strengthening families by teaching an evidence-based researched parenting program. If you want to help parents/families and improve your own parenting skills, be a volunteer Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP)  Group Facilitator.

Virginia Cooperative Extension is accepting applications for the next training cycle for Volunteer Parent Educators. This unique opportunity provides training in the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) curriculum and group facilitation skills.

In addition, as a volunteer, your own parenting skills will be enhanced. Candidates must first complete a six-week STEP class and then receive 7.5 hours of training in facilitation and leadership of groups. There is a $65 fee to cover the cost of training materials and a background check. Before the facilitator training, the volunteer must commit to leading (seven-week) parenting classes in the first two years of completing the training.
