BUSINESS LICENSE PAYMENT & APPLICATION RENEWALS DUE MARCH 1, 2024

Prince William County Business License Payment and Application Renewals are due on March 1, 2024. If you have not received a Business License Renewal Form and believe you should have, contact the Taxpayer Services Office at (703) 792-6710 or by email at [email protected]. A late payment penalty of 10% will be assessed on the unpaid tax balance if taxes are not paid in full by the due date. Interest at a rate of 10% per annum accrues monthly until the balance is paid in full. Manage, file, and pay taxes online at tax.pwcgov.org. Payments can be made online by e-check for free or by credit card for a convenience fee or by phone by calling 1-888-272-9829, jurisdiction code is 1036, by mail to PO BOX 70519, Philadelphia, PA 19176-0519 and in person at the Sudley North, and McCoart Taxpayer Services offices. The Taxpayer Services office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Offices will open at 9:00 A.M on Wednesday February 21, 2024.

Tax Remittances - Mail to PHILADELPHIA PO Box

In 2021, PWC Taxpayers were notified that the Merrifield PO Box was closed and to remit payment to the new Philly PO Box. Since that time, mail received in Merrifield was forwarded to the correct address. Effective July 31, 2023, any mail sent to the OLD Merrifield PO Box will be RETURNED TO SENDER. Delayed Opening - Third Wednesday of each Month for Staff Training

Taxpayer Services offices will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month to allow staff time for training. Dates that this will be in effect for 2024 are as follows: 1/17, 2/21, 3/20, 4/17, 5/15, 6/19, 7/17, 8/21, 9/18, 10/16, 11/20, & 12/18.

    Business Interests

Businesses are assessed tangible property tax on items such as furniture and fixtures, computers, and construction equipment. Business Tangible Property Taxes are due annually on October 5th.     Real Estate Tax and Assessments

    Prince William County real estate taxes are due in two halves. The first half is due July 15th and the second half is due December 5th.     Personal Property Tax

    In Prince William County, personal property tax is assessed annually on automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, trailers, and mobile homes. Businesses are also assessed a business tangible property tax on items such as furniture and fixtures, computers, and construction equipment. Personal Property taxes are due annually on October 5th.

    New! Vehicle Compliance Program

    The Department of Finance, Tax Administration wants to inform PWC residents the new Vehicle Compliance program website. This provides an effective channel to anonymously report vehicle owners that do not display Virginia license plates but may be liable for personal property taxes. All non-exempt vehicle owners without a current Virginia license plate must become compliant by September 13, 2021.

    In 2023, Prince William County adopted an ordinance to create a Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing program in coordination with the Department of Energy’s statewide C-PACE Program.
