    Tax Payments by Mail

    USPS Postmark Update – Important for Time-Sensitive Filings

    The USPS has clarified that a postmark reflects the date of automated processing, not necessarily the date the mail was dropped off. This may affect proof of timely filing, including tax documents and payments. To ensure same-day proof of mailing, customers should request a manual postmark at a retail counter or obtain a Certificate of Mailing, a Certified Mail receipt, or a Registered Mail receipt.

    To mail a tax payment, use the return address printed on your tax bill.

    Include the following in the return envelope:

    • Your payment
    • The tear‑off return portion of the bill
    • Ensure the mailing address is visible through the envelope window

    Important:
    Mail sent to PO BOX 70519, Philadelphia, PA 19176‑0519 is processed by the County’s remittance processing bank.
    The return portion of the bill must be included, as it contains the information needed to complete the transaction.

    DIRECTIONS TO COUNTY FACILITIES

    Development Services Building (DSB): This location is the most accessible site for Taxpayer Services for residents and businesses in the Montclair, Triangle, Dumfries, Lake Ridge, Dale City, and central County regions.

    The Development Services Building (DSB) is located at 5 County Complex Court, Suite 140, near the intersection of Prince William County Parkway and Hoadly Road. 

    Sudley North Government Center: This location serves as the most convenient hub for Taxpayer Services, catering to the needs of residents and businesses in the Manassas, Gainesville, and Nokesville areas.

    The Sudley North Government Center is located at 7987 Ashton Avenue, near the Bull Run Library.
