Prince William County leaders, staff and members of the community gathered this morning for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the recent renovations to Forest Greens Golf Club.
Many county dignitaries were in attendance including County Executive Christopher Shorter, Board of County Supervisors Chair-at-Large Deshundra Jefferson, and Vice Chair Andrea O. Bailey, Potomac District Supervisor, all of whom addressed the crowd.
“We talk often about quality of life here in Prince William County and maintaining the quality of life in the county," said Shorter. "Well recreation, parks, park amenities like this are exactly what it requires to keep our county beautiful and keep the folks who live in our county and those who visit coming back again and again."
Chair-at-Large Jefferson also spoke reminding people how recreation like golf is important to maintaining social connections.
“We need access to green space. We need places where the community can come together, where people can form those social connections. We saw how vital that was during the pandemic,” she stated.
Vice Chair Bailey closed out the day addressing the crowd.
“This is a great day!” said Vice Chair Bailey. “We focused on renovating the entire amenity here at the golf course, and I tell you from 1996 to now—this is a great day!”
Supervisor Bailey went on to recognize and thank all the parties involved in the project to update and refresh the golf club, from Prince William County Parks and Recreation staff, contractors, and the golf club staff, to the Dumfries Town Council, and Quantico.
Acknowledging her colleagues on the Board, Supervisor Bailey stated, “We work together across the board to make sure that Prince William County is a place that people want to come and stay.”
The clubhouse renovations include the entrance that now has fresh new modern signage, the lobby including the fireplace, the grill room, men’s and women’s restrooms, and the pro shop. New furniture has also been added as part of the renovation.
Funds for the renovations were provided through Prince William County Parks and Recreation’s Capital Improvement Program in an effort to continue to upgrade and improve existing facilities throughout the county as well as support new projects.
