Leopold's Preserve Volunteer Day
Leopold's Preserve offers volunteer events on the third Saturday morning of each month, from February through November.

Volunteers are welcome to stay as long as they'd like - drop in for an hour, or stay for the full event. Our volunteer activities are suitable for ages 13 and up, but volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you are interested in a volunteer event for younger children, please contact us.
April 18th: Pond Cleanup! Help us maintain our pond by removing trash and painting over graffiti. No previous experience or tools are required. This pond represents a truly unique stormwater management system that incorporates native grasses and wildflowers. We'll walk the edges of the pond collecting trash and debris to prevent it from running into streams and rivers.
All participants must register through our website so we can reach out with information. If we need to cancel due to inclement weather, only registered participants will be notified.
Attire: All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants to protect against thorns, insect bites, and poison ivy. Please be aware that you may encounter muddy areas. Volunteers should wear waterproof boots/shoes - preferably that go up past the ankle. Anyone who is dressed inappropriately (shorts, sandals, etc.) will not be allowed to volunteer. To keep yourself comfortable, we recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray.
Equipment: We will supply gloves, grabbers, and trash bags. Arrive with clothing for working outside to get dirty, a water bottle, and a smile. Volunteers may bring kayaks to help gather trash from the pond. Please note: Kayaking is not permitted at Leopold's Preserve except for this special event under staff supervision. Volunteers will have access to restrooms and a water fountain.
Location: Please meet at the Villages of Piedmont II clubhouse, 6770 Pinchot Ln, Haymarket, VA 20169.
Keep an eye on your inbox on the day before the event. We'll send you details about where to meet and what to expect.
Thank you to the Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District for supporting this event!
