Twenty-five businesses received a ‘Certificate of Occupancy’ or official letter to ‘Open for Business’ from the Department of Development Services’ Small Business Project Management Program in August 2021, bringing the Year-To-Date total to two hundred and fifty-two businesses 'Open for Business.'

Two restaurants, Tequeno World and Tipicos Los Reyes in the Brentsville District, received new certificates of occupancy. Health Services, Spas, and Beauty Salons continue to grow, with the Honee Pot Skin & Beauty LLC in the Woodbridge District already a local 5-star favorite. While nearby 2Q Nail Bar expanded its footprint in the Occoquan District.

"Health & Spa Services are continuing to grow and expand in Prince William County, along with professional services that range from Daycare and Learning Services to Printing, Painting and Pet Grooming Services," shared Wade A. Hugh, Director, Department of Development Services.

"Working in cross-departmental collaboration with the Department of Finance, all new and existing Prince William County business owners that need to renew or change their business license in the Taxpayers and Business Services Division are required to have a Certificate of Occupancy or official letter to receive a license. This procedure ensures that customers are receiving all services required, and processes are streamlined and efficient, to allow business owners to open their doors as quickly as possible." added Hugh.

As lead Development Services Agency for the County, the Department of Development Services is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code by reviewing commercial and residential construction plans, issuing permits, inspecting structures, and enforcing building code requirements. The Department also manages the site and subdivision plan review and permit issuance process, administers the posting and releasing of bonds and escrows, and issues zoning permits.
