Swimming
Did you know that Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center and Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center both have heated indoor pools that you can enjoy year-round?
The aquatics center at Dale City Recreation Center features a 25-yard heated indoor pool with gradual entry ramp, open swim and lap swim times available and a 16-person Whirlpool hot tub. View the December pool schedule here.
The natatorium at Chinn has recently reopened after bulkhead renovations. You’ll notice the upgrades and improvements including resurfacing of the leisure pool, regrouting of the pool deck areas and full resurfacing (whitecoat), new racing tiles in the main pool and new lane lines and backstroke flags.
Chinn offers two large swimming pools, diving boards, two Whirlpool hot tubs and two steamy saunas. (*Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Square Spa will remain closed until repairs can be completed.) View Chinn's winter pool schedule here.
At both facilities Splash ‘n Play is offered, where parents with their young children (6 months – age 5) can enjoy water playtime together. No registration is required. $5 fee. Join us at Dale City on Fridays from 11 am-12:30 pm for Splash ‘n Play through December 19; and at Chinn on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1:00-2:30 pm through December 19. Toys are provided. Up to two adults are free with each child.
Fitness

Want more personalized fitness training? Hiring a personal trainer will give you the individualized attention, motivation and guidance you need to succeed. Our Certified Personal Trainers work with you to develop a customized fitness program to help you meet your goals, whatever they may be. Check out our current sale on personal training packages here. Student passes are also on sale through the end of the year, and regular membership passes will go on sale starting January 1.
Dancing
Get those dancing shoes ready for these fun dance classes coming up in 2026 at Dale City Recreation Center!
Carnival: Get ready to unleash your inner island spirit and enjoy a celebration of Caribbean culture, featuring uplifting Soca, Calypso, and Reggae Dancehall music. Come dressed in your vibrant carnival attire, and let’s have a blast! Class takes place on Sunday, February 22. Registration opens at 8 am on December 9 here. This program is FREE for passholders and $12 for non-member guests. Registration is required. Ages 14+.
Line Dancing: It's time to hit the dance floor! Let's shake it, twist, and turn - it's all about having fun. Grab your dancing shoes, bring your friends, and get ready to have a great time! Class takes place Saturdays, March 7 – 28. Register starting 8 am on December 9 here. Ages 14+.
Kids Programs
Send the kids to us during the school holiday break and we’ll keep them entertained! Spots are still left for Camp Chinnterfest! Held at Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center, your child (ages 6-14) will have the opportunity to participate in supervised camp games, activities and crafts and swimming at our indoor pool. For the littlest ones we have a variety of programs coming up in the new year. On January 12, join us at Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center for Hot Cocoa and Crafts where you can sip on some cocoa and make a fun winter craft with your child to take home. For ages 3-5. Registration opens on December 9 at 8 am here.
Children ages 5-12 can create whimsical winter cats, fun gingerbread houses, and snowy hats in our Let it Snow art class on February 16. Celebrate the season with inspirations from Charley Harper, Dale Chihuly, and Vincent Van Gogh. Get cozy and let it snow! This program is instructed by Abrakadoodle. Register starting December 9 at 8 am here. Class is held at Pat White Center at Ben Lomond.
Winter Camp in a Box for Home
Give your child a fun and exciting camp experience from the comfort and convenience of your own home. Camp in a Box comes packed with fun activities, supplies, and instructions to keep your child entertained for a few hours each day. Boxes come with enough materials for two children ($25) or four children ($40)*, and instructions will have physical and cognitive modifications for each activity.
Boxes must be purchased online and can be picked up on December 19th from 10-4p at Birchdale Community Center or Pat White at Ben Lomond Community Center. For questions/concerns, please contact Veronica Laughman via email here or call 703-792-8066. *Please note, tax will be added at checkout.
