The Circuit Court Clerk’s Office Provides Language Interpretation Services in a Variety of Languages

Residents who are comfortable speaking in their non-English native language can continue accessing judicial services without worry or hesitation. The Circuit Court Clerk, Jacqueline Smith, now offers translation services for foreign language speakers in a variety of languages. The translation services provide residents with a convenient and no-cost option for communicating with the clerk’s office.

The Circuit Court Clerk’s Office has partnered with the Virginia Judicial System and Certified Languages International (CLI) to provide interpretation services to address the needs of all residents seeking services, regardless of spoken language. An individual is called upon by staff to translate information in the resident’s native language. By improving communication, the phone-based interpretation service can increase residents’ comfort when receiving services from the Clerk of the Circuit Court.

The interpretation services enable staff to respond to requests made by residents who speak a foreign language in a quick and adequate manner. In addition to their routine duties, the clerk’s multilingual staff is available to help when needed. The translation service enhances timeliness and communication with a larger section of the community.
