COVID-19 Vaccine Information: Update on the Call Center, Vaccine Rollout, Phases, Weather Impacts and a New Pre-Registration System

The Prince William Health District (PWHD) call center is currently handling more than 2,000 calls a day. The call center answers questions, assists with the waitlist, and schedules appointments. The Health District Call Center is also available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday, at 703-872-7759.
CVS Pharmacy is administering vaccines to the public. This is a federal program. PWHD is not involved in this process. This is an arrangement between CVS and the federal government. CVS is using an online registration system with 36 CVS Pharmacy locations in Virginia. Residents can call and make appointments. CVS can confirm the number of appointments it is booking. CVS can inform jurisdictions on whether they are using a list. These locations are currently conducting 100 doses a day based on supply.
The Prince William Health District (PWHD) is administering the Moderna vaccine by appointment only. Residents can register for the waitlist at http://bit.ly/PWHDwaitlist due to the shortage of the vaccine. As more vaccine becomes available, PWHD will contact those on the waitlist to receive the vaccine. Walk-ins are not allowed at the vaccine clinics. Anyone receiving a vaccination must have an appointment.
The PWHD is currently in phase 1b. Here is a list of the people receiving vaccinations: Police, Fire & Rescue, Hazmat Workers, people working and living in correctional facilities & homeless shelters, childcare workers, teachers, 65 and older, migrant labor camps, and individuals 16 – 64 with high-risk medical conditions or disability.
There is the potential for inclement weather on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 11 and 12. Please understand we are in the winter months with the potential of inclement weather affecting appointments with possible cancellations. We are constantly updated on weather forecasts and changes. If there is inclement weather, PWHD will cancel vaccine appointments and the call center will call to reschedule those affected.
Virginia ranks 7th among all states for percent of the population that has received at least one dose, and 11th among all states for percent of available doses administered. Nearly 9 in 10 available first doses have been administered.
A new statewide pre-registration system will launch next week to improve the consistency of this process and allow individuals to confirm their pre-registration status at any time. This new system will not replace the current PWHD waitlist nor remove you from the PWHD waitlist.
PWHD has nearly completed vaccinations with Phase 1a. As of Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 PWHD received 20,650 vaccines of Moderna currently given at the PWHD clinics. The total administered or shared with other clinics was 15,090. The PWHD clinics vaccinated 4,061 people during the week of Monday, Feb. 1. PWHD only received 3,600 vaccines on Monday, Feb. 8. We will continue to try and provide information about vaccines and doses administered. We hope the people of the Commonwealth remain patient and diligent as we await supply increases from the federal government.
