Jeannie LaCroix, who was recently elected to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, was ceremoniously sworn in on Wednesday, March 18, to represent the Woodbridge Magisterial District.

Following the oath of office, administered by Clerk of the Circuit Court Jacqueline C. Smith, LaCroix said she was honored to take her seat on the Board and looked forward to working alongside her colleagues.

“It's all working together,” LaCroix said. “When we work together as a team, we can go forward.”

LaCroix said she hopes to bring a fresh, caring and supportive voice to the Board as she begins her service.

“I want to make a difference in the time that I have in Woodbridge, in Prince William County and on this Board,” said LaCroix, a Northern Virginia native and a member of the Woodbridge community for more than 10 years. “And if you walk away going, ‘You know what, she didn’t agree with me, but she really does care about me, and she cares about us, she cares about the community,’ then I’m going to have done a good job.”

Prince William County Chair At-Large Deshundra Jefferson echoed LaCroix’s sentiments, expressing confidence in her leadership.

“We're in the crossroads in our community, and it's great to have fresh eyes and fresh perspectives,” Jefferson said. “There is so much work for us to do together, and that is my hope for you, even though you are walking into a Board that has largely been working together, you bring a valuable voice and a valuable perspective.”

LaCroix, who owned a court reporting firm for more than 30 years, now works as a local realtor and has been active in the community by serving on the Animal Advisory Committee, leading her neighborhood’s social committee and establishing a Neighborhood Watch program to help strengthen neighborhood safety and connection.

LaCroix was elected in a special election on March 10 to fill the seat previously held by Woodbridge District Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin, who was elected to the Virginia General Assembly in a special election on Jan. 13.
