Little Free Seed Library @ the Library

single news

Stop by a Little Free Seed Library at Central, Chinn Park, Haymarket Gainesville, Manassas City, Montclair, or Potomac Library to pick up free vegetable, herb, pollinator plant, and native plant seeds.

Grow your own vegetables courtesy of the Prince William County Seed Library Coalition, made up of local garden clubs, organizations, and Prince William Public Libraries. The Little Free Seed Libraries are funded in part by a $10,000 ChangeX grant, funded by AWS Northern Virginia Community Fund, awarded to the Garden Club of Montclair.

The Library Free Seed Libraries were created to encourage people to grow plants for reasons of mental and physical health, as well as promoting food security across the county.

How the Little Free Seed Libraries Work

Free seed packets are available at participating Prince William Public Libraries. Vegetable, herb, pollinator plant, and native plant seeds will be available. The program's focus is on promoting food security by helping community members grow their own vegetables.

The Prince William Seed Library Coalition consists of local Garden Clubs, including the Centennial Garden Club, the Lake Ridge Garden Club, the Haymarket Town and Country Garden Club, the Garden Club of Montclair, and Virginia Cooperative Extension and Prince William Public Libraries.
