Long Awaited Rollins Ford Pump Track Opens

single news

It was an exciting day at Rollins Ford Park in Nokesville as more than 200 people gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the long-awaited pump track at the area park. Prince William County leaders, including County Executive Christopher Shorter, Board of County Supervisors Chair Deshundra Jefferson, and Brentsville District Supervisor Tom Gordy, were all in attendance, along with a large crowd of bikers and their families including professional BMX racer and current U23 National Champion Cutter Williams. The Prince William County Parks Foundation and Prince William County Parks and Recreation leaders and staff who were involved with leading the project were also in attendance as were many of the generous sponsors whose support made the pump track a reality.

Ruth Anderson, Chair of the PWC Parks Foundation kicked off the celebration by welcoming everyone and thanking and recognizing all those who were involved with funding the project including top sponsor Stack Infrastructure.

"We had to raise $300,000 to make this happen and we couldn't have done it without the generous support of all of our sponsors and supporters," said Anderson. "The Foundation exists solely to support the Department of Parks and Recreation, and we also educate about parks, advocate for parks and raise money for projects like this and we're so exciting to celebrate this one."

Brentsville District Supervisor, Tom Gordy also addressed the crowd.

"For me there's one word that matters more than anything else, and that's the word community. This did not happen without community. These sponsors, every one of them, are part of our community," said Gordy. "This is where the community came together as one and put their heart and soul into this so that we could have an incredible pump track here for kids of all ages."

County Executive Christopher Shorter also addressed the crowd stating, "This is more than just a ribbon cutting, it's an opportunity to show investment in community, in neighborhoods, in people, and in gathering spaces outdoors."

Located off Vint Hill Road, Rollins Ford Park also features a basketball court, three dog parks, a custom farm-themed destination playground, two picnic pavilions, grass fields (for soccer and lacrosse), a comfort station, walking trails and a water bottle filling station along with water fountains, including one for pets.
