Prince William County Fire & Rescue System Launches Innovative Fire Safety Simulator Trailer

The Prince William County Fire & Rescue System is raising the bar in community safety education
with the introduction of its new Fire Safety Simulator (FSS) trailer. This state-of-the-art, 27-foot mobile training unit is designed to bring realistic fire safety scenarios directly to residents.

The trailer is thoughtfully constructed to replicate a typical home environment, featuring a kitchen, a bedroom, and an outdoor porch with a grill. To enhance the learning experience, the unit features informative educational graphics throughout the interior and exterior to teach various public safety scenarios.

Inside the unit, visitors encounter immersive simulators that demonstrate common household hazards:

Kitchen & Outdoor Safety: Participants face a simulated oven fire, a flaming pot on the stove,
and hazards related to the outdoor grill.
Bedroom Scenarios: This area features a heated door and simulated smoke to teach residents how quickly everyday situations can become dangerous.
Informative Graphics: Visual aids are integrated to provide clear, educational guidance on fire prevention and safety protocols.

A standout feature of the Prince William County FSS is the FiAR system, an innovative augmented fire extinguisher training tool. This allows participants of all ages to practice proper extinguisher use in a safe, controlled, and realistic environment.

“This trailer provides a unique opportunity for our community to engage in interactive fire safety
education,” stated Chief Tom LaBelle. “Our goal is to empower residents with the knowledge
and confidence they need to protect themselves and their families”.

The Fire Safety Simulator Trailer will travel throughout Prince William County and neighboring
jurisdictions, making appearances at public safety events, community gatherings, and educational programs. Residents are encouraged to attend an upcoming event to tour the trailer and learn
essential fire prevention skills.
