Prince William Public Libraries Launches New Podcast About “Important Library Stuff”

single news

Prince William Public Libraries has officially launched "Important Library Stuff," a podcast where library staff share the inside scoop on all the stuff that happens at Prince William Public Libraries – and trust us, it's a lot of stuff. We've got 12 branches strewn across Prince William County and the City of Manassas, so you know there's bound to be some intriguing goings-on. We're your one-stop shop for all the PWPL news that's fit to broadcast.

Every other week, we’ll drop a new episode hosted by Emily Bickers, Prince William Public Libraries’ media specialist. Emily will have guest co-hosts to discuss everything from our vast collection of books, e-books, audio, and digital resources to special services like our Management and Government Information Center (MAGIC) and Career Online High School.

Our first episode highlights our makerspaces with the Bull Run Library and Central Library makerspace masters, Delwyn Elizabeth and Jennifer Hendrix. Our makerspaces have been extremely popular with visitors since they opened, but we still want to brag about how amazing they are. More than 3,500 people have come in to create stunning quilts, artfully designed shirts and stickers on our Cricut machines, and even recorded their own podcasts in our Whisper Room sound booth. Learn about upcoming programs in the makerspaces, and – spoiler alert – we might (that means we will) even talk about the new makerspace coming to Chinn Park Library next year.

The best part about our makerspaces? You can start from scratch and create beautiful things in no time flat. Jennifer Hendrix shares: “So funnily enough, I was not a particularly crafty person before I moved into this position...I’ve made some things that are actually quite lovely and discovered in the process how simple it is to get started.”

Tune in to "Important Library Stuff" on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube Music for all the library news you didn't know you needed. You can also listen on our podcast page at https://pwpl.buzzsprout.com/.
