March is the month to promote Severe Weather & Flood Awareness! Virginia Flood Awareness week is March 9th – 14th and Severe Weather Awareness Week is March 9th – 13th.

Flood Awareness Week highlights the hazards that flooding can cause, and how to protect yourself, your family, and your property from these dangers.

Severe Weather Awareness Week highlights threats from severe weather and how to prepare for them. Each day during the week, a different topic will be covered and shared on social media including preparedness tips and ways to stay safe during severe weather.

As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the Virginia Statewide Tornado Drill will take place on Tuesday, March 10th, 2025, at 9:45 a.m. Join in at school, at work, and at home to practice your family emergency plan!

Spring is a great time to make or update and practice your emergency plan (pwcva.gov/makeaplan) and to build and update your emergency supply kit (pwcva.gov/buildakit)!
