The second annual State of the County event brings together residents, elected officials, county leadership and partners to reflect on progress and discuss priorities for the year ahead. The event, which will be held at the Hylton Performing Arts Center the evening of Monday, March 2, provides an opportunity to explore how current investments and policy decisions are shaping everyday life and long-term opportunity for residents.

“The State of the County is about bringing our community together to reflect on how far we’ve come and where we’re going,” said Chair At-Large Deshundra Jefferson. “These conversations help ensure our work continues to reflect the needs of the people we serve.”

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with an open house in the Didlake Foyer, where attendees can connect directly with county staff at interactive tables highlighting departments that advance the county’s Strategic Plan. Staff will be available to answer questions and share how their work is delivering measurable results for residents and strengthening our community.

The main program will begin at 7 p.m. in the Gregory Theater and will feature three panel discussions focused on key themes shaping the county’s future: Reimagining Community Safety, Reimagining Workforce Development and Career Pathways, and Reimagining Living and Playing in the County.

The Reimagining Community Safety panel will explore what community safety means today and how public safety continues to evolve. The panel will include public safety and behavioral health leaders who will discuss collaboration, prevention and compassionate response, and how expanding beyond traditional approaches can help strengthen trust and improve outcomes for residents.

The panel on Reimagining Workforce Development and Career Pathways will focus on strengthening workforce development efforts to support a growing and diverse community. Panelists will examine strategies that expand career opportunities, build a strong regional workforce ecosystem and enhance long-term quality of life in Prince William County.

The Reimagining Living and Playing in the County panel will bring together perspectives from Parks and Recreation, housing, planning and tourism to explore how thoughtful planning and collaboration shape the places, experiences and amenities that define daily life across the county.

The State of the County event is designed to foster conversation, transparency, and connection, offering residents a meaningful opportunity to engage with the county’s vision and priorities for the future.
