Summer may be winding down but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. From community events to a variety of classes and fun activities, September is filled with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the changing season. Whether you’re looking to try something new, spend quality time with family, or enjoy some time outdoors, our September programs and events offer something for everyone.

Line Dancing
It's time to hit the dance floor! Join us starting Saturday, September 6 to learn how to line dance. Grab your dancing shoes, bring your friends, and get ready to two-step! Register here for this six week program held at Dale City Recreation Center.

Harvest Moon Yoga
The full moon in the month of September will occur on Sunday, Sept. 7 and is known as the Corn Moon. Join us at Neabsco Creek Boardwalk as we embrace this astronomical site and explore the powerful energy of the Full Moon through a flow yoga practice. We will begin the session with live acoustic guitar upon your arrival and end your practice with live sound bowl meditation. Please bring a flashlight, yoga mat, water and a small blanket and wear appropriate clothing for working out, outside at night. *Be sure to arrive early. It’s about a 30-minute walk from the parking lot pavilion to the south deck of the boardwalk. Click here to register.

Pickleball Lessons
Fall is the perfect time to pick up this fun and popular sport! Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. We invite you to join us to see what all the “dinks” are about! You will learn all the basic strokes, including dinks, volleys, forehands, backhands, and the serve. You will also learn all the rules and how to keep score. Pickleball paddles and balls are provided. Tennis shoes are required. Level 1, 2 and 3 classes are available. Register here. Lessons begin September 8 at Veterans Memorial Park.

Fridays at 5
Join us on Friday, September 12 for Fridays at 5—our free outdoor concert series. Step back in time with The Deloreans, an electrifying 80s tribute band that will transport you to the era of neon lights, big hair, and iconic music. Comprised of six versatile vocalists, our seasoned showband brings to life the most memorable artists and nostalgic tunes of the ‘80s with unmatched flair and energy. For more details, click here.

World War II Weekend
Come join us at Rippon Lodge Historic Site on Saturday, September 13 and 14 (11 am-3 pm) as we commemorate the Greatest Generation during this two-day event. View military equipment, armaments and historic military vehicles. Explore how citizens at home supported the war effort while viewing original WWII artifacts. Tours include information about Admiral Richard Black, WWII veteran, survivor of Pearl Harbor and the last owner of Rippon Lodge. Families may enjoy crafts, music, games and more. Indoor self-guided tours are limited to 15 at a time. Event is free; all ages welcome.

Arts Alive!
Arts Alive! is Prince William County’s free, family-friendly community arts festival featuring art, dance, music and more! The free event on Sunday, September 14 (12 noon - 5pm) is produced jointly by the Prince William County Arts Council, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Hylton Performing Arts Center. The annual arts festival features the talents of Prince William County Arts Council members and other community performers and fine artists.

Admission is free and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Event is held at Hylton Performing Arts Center and will take place rain or shine. See full schedule of events below or visit the website here.

Family Archery Classes
If you’re searching for a fun activity the whole family can enjoy together, look no further! The whole family can join us for an outdoor archery experience! This program focuses on the fundamentals of archery. Our USA Archery certified instructors will teach each participant the range rules, bow and arrow safety, proper form, and stance. All equipment will be provided. Fee is $35 per person. Various dates and locations are available in September and October. Find your class and register today.

Inaugural Teens on the Right Steps Celebration
In partnership with Prince William Youth Services, Prince William County Parks and Recreation invites middle and high school age students to attend a fun, FREE event at Cloverdale Park—"Teens on the Right Steps Celebration" on Saturday, September 20 (12-4 pm). Food and beverages will be provided. Teens can enjoy performances, competition and a variety of activities for youth, including axe throwing, corn hole, a mobile library, flag football and so much more! Let's Go Skate Day
Join us on Tuesday, September 23 for Let's Go Skate Day at the Scott D. Eagles Skate Park at Veterans Memorial Park. This event is designed for skaters of all levels, from those just starting out to intermediate riders looking to refine their skills. Participate in age and ability-based groups and receive expert instruction on essential skateboarding techniques like ollies, manuals, and kickflips. Enjoy exciting skating games, park activities, safety demos, and friendly contests throughout the day. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to helping you progress, build confidence, and connect with the skateboarding community. Remember your pads and helmet, and bring your board – let's skate! Brentsville Bluegrass Festival
Are you ready for some bluegrass? Join us on Saturday, September 27 for a day of music and local history at Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre. Enjoy bluegrass music, displays, explore the historic site, and enjoy hands-on activities for the kids at the Brentsville Bluegrass Festival.
