    Overview: Prince William County faces a variety of threats and hazards that can impact the public at any time or place. This presentation is directed towards the general public and aims to prove an overview of emergency preparedness. Topics cover the Pillars of Preparedness, including making an emergency kit, making an emergency plan, getting involved, and getting information. The presentation also covers how the public can mitigate the effects of the threats and hazards faced in Prince William County. 

    Audience: General Public, Houses of Worship, HOAs, and Community Groups.

    Timing: 1 Hour

  • A presentation on flooding happening in a community meeting room.

    Overview: Flooding is the highest-risk hazard faced by Prince William County and while those that live in a flood plain are at higher risk, flooding can happen anywhere it rains. This presentation is directed towards the general public and aims to provide an overview of flood resiliency within communities. Topics include a deep dive into flooding in Prince William County and a demonstration of how the effects of flooding can change in different areas based on the environment.

    Audience: General Public, Houses of Worship, HOAs, and Community Group.

    Timing: 1 Hour

    Overview: This presentation is directed towards the Scouting America and Girl Scout members and aims to them with an opportunity to complete their Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge. Troops of all ages can sign up for a scout night, in which the troops visit the Prince William County Multi-Agency Coordination Center to learn about emergency management, at-home preparedness, and participate in a simulated game. This presentation is centered around the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge.

    Audience: Scouts of all ages and organization, including but not limited to Scouting America and Girl Scout.

    Timing: 2 Hour

    Overview: Prince William County faces a variety of threats and hazards every single day. A great place to learn about these hazards is in a classroom setting, where education is already the top priority. Teachers may request the Prince William County Office of Emergency Management to come present on these hazards, teaching and reinforcing information and skills to better prepare students and make them more resilient whether they're at school, at home, or anywhere else. The Office of Emergency Management can also do a flooding specific presentation for science classes, including an interactive flood model.

    Audience: School classrooms older than 5th Grade. For those younger, we suggest requesting a "Safe Alone, Safe at Home" presentation from the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.
