SIGN UP LINK AND MORE INFORMATION: Critically Imperiled Native Planting Event w/ PWC @ Leesylvania State Park Tickets, Sunday, May 24  •  9:30 AM - 1:30 PM | Eventbrite

Join PWC Environmental Staff as we help conserve a critically imperiled flower at our Living Shoreline Restoration Project. Join us at our water station behind the Leesylvania State Park Visitor Center by 9:30 AM.

We are planting Virginia Fanpetals, also known as Virginia-mallow or Sida (Sida hermaphrodita), at our Living Shoreline resoration project at Leesylvania State Park. It is listed as critically imperiled or imperiled from VA to Ontario, mainly due to shoreline erosion and competition by invasive species.

The planting area (green highlighted section) is within walking distance of our water station and public restrooms. Terrain on the restoration site itself is uneven, with tripping hazards such as driftwood and tall grasses.

The event will be hosted by experts in stream/shoreline restoration and stormwater management, and doubles as a great environmental education opportunity.
