Of Richard Henry Lee, John Adams famously observed that he was "better known than acknowledged", and observation that applies to the entire revolutionary generation of Lees reared at Stratford in the Northern Neck of Virginia. Dr. Steffey joins us to discuss the making of these Northern Neck radicals and the critical role they played in the founding, from the earliest days of dissent to the formation of a new political union of "free and independent" states and beyond.
