18th Annual Mental Health Awareness Event Expands Learning and Access to Care

Prince William Community Services will host the 18th Annual Greater Prince William Mental Health Awareness Event & Summit from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, at the Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo Building in Woodbridge.
The free event, which is open to the public, is a full-day community learning experience designed to help residents, families, caregivers and professionals recognize mental health and substance use concerns, respond with greater confidence and connect people with the right services.
“People often know that someone is struggling, but do not know what to say, what to do or where to turn,” said Lisa Madron, Executive Director of Prince William Community Services. “This year’s expanded event gives our community practical knowledge, direct access to providers and clearer pathways to care. A more informed Prince William is better prepared to help before, during and after a crisis.”
The morning portion of the event will feature the Community Wellness Expo and Community Navigation Hub from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants can connect with mental health, substance use, recovery, health care and community service providers. Attendees can explore wellness activities, art and storytelling, therapy dog and peer support resources while learning how to access local help.
The afternoon activities will include learning sessions and educational breakouts will cover topics such as youth mental health, suicide prevention, social media and body image, culture and mental health, caregiver stress and burnout, peer support and recovery, and trauma, resilience and crisis response.
The day will conclude with the Voice of Recovery Honors and community celebration, recognizing individuals, teams and organizations whose advocacy, service, leadership or recovery journey inspires hope and reduces stigma.
Registration is not required, but advance registration is strongly encouraged for learning sessions and the free Community Celebration and Dinner to help organizers plan for seating, meals, materials and accessibility needs.
