Prince William County has restructured its transportation and capital project functions into the Department of Transportation and Capital Construction, or DTCC, creating a centralized approach to planning and delivering capital projects across the county.

The restructured department brings together capital project functions for transportation, facilities, parks and recreation, and public infrastructure under one organization to provide a more consistent approach to delivering infrastructure projects that support the county's Strategic Plan and enhance quality of life for residents and businesses. The new organizational structure is designed to address the growing volume and complexity of capital projects while reducing duplication, strengthening collaboration across agencies and streamlining project delivery.

"This restructuring reflects our commitment to continually maximize operational efficiencies to provide excellent service delivery," said County Executive Chris Shorter. "By aligning transportation and capital construction under one organization, we are creating a more collaborative and accountable approach to delivering the infrastructure our residents depend on today while preparing Prince William County for the future."

"After months of strategic coordination and collaboration, the Department of Transportation and Capital Construction is now here and ready to serve," said Rick Canizales, Director of the DTCC. "On behalf of the entire DTCC team, we thank the Board of County Supervisors and County Executive Chris Shorter for their vision in creating a centralized capital delivery model that addresses the county's increasing volume and complexity of capital projects while improving efficiency, accountability and cost savings through aligning efforts into one agency."

Residents will benefit from the restructured department through:

  • Improved coordination of infrastructure projects
  • More consistent planning and delivery
  • Greater accountability and transparency
  • Easier access to project information
  • Enhanced ability to support growth and infrastructure needs
  • Continued investment in transportation, facilities, parks and environmental infrastructure
