Special Population Programs Wait List Opening

The Prince William County Office of Housing & Community Development (OHCD) will be having an online Housing Choice Voucher Program Lottery for two specialized programs.

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION BELOW CAREFULLY. DO NOT SKIP DIRECTLY TO THE APPLICATION!

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Non-Elderly Disabled (NEDS) Wait List (100 randomly chosen applications will form a Wait List from the Lottery)

To be eligible for this application, must meet the following requirements:

  • Non-elderly disabled families, defined as families with a head, co-head or spouse under age 61 who is disabled and;
  • Live or work in Prince William County

Mainstream Wait List (100 randomly chosen applications will form a Wait List from the Lottery)

To be eligible for this application, must meet the following requirements:

  • Mainstream vouchers serve households that include a non-elderly person with a disability
  • Non-elderly is defined as someone between 18 years of age but less than 62 years of age and;
  • Live or work in Prince William County

WHEN:

The Lottery will take place from 9:00 AM through 5:00 PM April 20, 2022

HOW:

Applications will be accepted online only. Only one application per household will be accepted. Duplicate or fraudulent pre-applications will be rejected. Paper applications will not be distributed or accepted. If you need assistance in another language, Google Translate will assist you during the application process. WHERE:

Applications can be submitted ONLINE ONLY with the use of a personal computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet. Please do not come to the Office of Housing & Community Development’s Office. The Prince William County Public Library has branches throughout the County with public computers and free Wi-Fi.

INFORMATION NEEDED:

Full legal names, social security numbers, birthdates, mailing address and income information for every person in the household. You must enter your total household income on the application. If your household has no income from any sources, you must enter zero in the income field. The information you provide must be truthful and complete to the best of your knowledge. An email addresses will be required for all applications.

As you complete the application process, you will create a login and password. Please keep this information.

APPLICATION SELECTION:

This notice is for the two HUD Special Population Programs only. There will be two separate lotteries which will be conducted simultaneously and will result in two separate waiting lists. The applications will consist of 100 randomly chosen applications (lottery) which will form a Wait List for both programs. Applications will NOT be provided or accepted by OHCD.

There is no cost to apply, and no one will ask an applicant for any payment. Please keep in mind that there are a limited number of vouchers available, and by submitting an application does not mean you are eligible or will receive a voucher for either program.

WAIT TIMES:

OHCD does not provide emergency or immediate housing. The amount of time you will wait before your application is selected may be months to years. You will be notified when your application has been selected. Wait List applicants are required to report, in writing, changes of mailing address and family composition. OHCD gives preference to applicants who live, or work in Prince William County.

REASONABLE ACCOMODATION:

Applicants that require a reasonable accommodation may call 703-792-7531 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM April 20, 2022, during the Application opening period only. No accommodations will be provided after 5:00 PM. In the case that you are unable to get through before 5:00 PM, please leave a message, which will have the time of the call. Any messages received after 5:00 PM will not be eligible to apply. Individuals with hearing or speech disabilities using TDD or TTY technology may call a Virginia Relay by dialing 7-1-1.

MAXIMUM INCOME LIMITS PER HOUSEHOLD SIZE:

The program has maximum income limits; however, 75 percent of new admissions must be at or below the extremely low-income limits. To view current local income limits and payment standards, see the Local Information Sheet.
