The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently commended Patrick O’Leary for 28 years of service on the county’s Industrial Development Authority (IDA). This organization fosters economic development in Prince William by issuing tax-exempt revenue bonds and acting as a conduit for incentive grants issued by the Board.

O’Leary served as the Occoquan District representative to the IDA from September 1994 to April 2022, where he held the vice chairman seat for many years and served as chairman from November 2017 to April 2022.

O’Leary’s experience in leadership and corporate law made him particularly suited for the role. He spent six years in the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations, earning the rank of captain. After leaving the service in 1972, he and his wife Jane made their home in Prince William County, where they raised three children. He went on to practice law for 47 years, specializing in international trade, customs, regulatory practice and corporate law.

“Through his tireless work on the IDA, Patrick O’Leary helped to shape the economic landscape in Prince William County. I wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement,” said Occoquan District Supervisor Kenny Boddye. "William Malone has been appointed as our new representative on the IDA, and I look forward to working with him to build on Patrick's legacy."
