The 2024 General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5, and the Prince William County Office of Elections has several ways to accommodate early voting. This year’s ballot includes candidates for U.S. President, U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate.
Beginning Sept. 20, voters can take advantage of the early voting option at the Office of Elections at 9250 Lee Avenue, Suite 1, in Manassas. Early voting allows voters to cast their ballots at a time convenient for them, reducing long lines and potential delays on Election Day. Starting on Oct. 13, voters will have additional options for early voting. Locations where early voting will be open include the following:
The Ferlazzo Building at 15941 Donald Curtis Drive in Woodbridge.
The Haymarket-Gainesville Library at 14870 Lightner Road in Haymarket.
The Brentsville Courthouse at 12229 Bristow Road in Brentsville.
The Dumfries Community Center at 17757 Main Street in Dumfries.
The DMV at 2731 Caton Hill Road in Woodbridge.
Early voting locations will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. Extended hours are available until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and until 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Sunday hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voters are required to show identification from the Acceptable IDs List, and curbside voting will be available for seniors and voters with disabilities. The last day for early voting is Nov. 2.
“Whether voting by mail or voting in person at an early voting location, casting your ballot before Election Day is a great way to make sure your voice is heard,” said Prince William County Registrar Eric Olsen. “Make sure to check the early voting schedule at pwcvotes.org as there are now six early voting locations open for every election, and six weekend or holiday days for voting this fall.”
In addition to early voting, voters can vote by mail for the 2024 General Election. To request an absentee ballot, applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. Completed absentee ballots can be returned either by mail, provided they are postmarked no later than Nov. 5, or delivered in person to any Prince William County voting location by the same deadline. This option ensures that voters who cannot vote in person can still participate in the electoral process.
When early voting begins, Individuals who miss the Oct. 15 registration deadline can still register and vote on the same day at any early voting location or their polling place on election day. Those interested should request to complete Same-Day Registration. Those who register on the same day will cast a provisional ballot. After Election Day, the Electoral Board will review the voter information provided on the envelope that contains the provisional ballot for validity and status. If the voter's status is accepted, the ballot will then be removed from its envelope, scanned, and counted before the election is certified.
On Election Day, Nov. 5, polling places across Virginia will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters are reminded that Virginia law mandates presenting an acceptable form of identification at the polls. To ensure a smooth voting experience, individuals can locate their designated polling places by visiting the state elections website at vote.elections.virginia.gov or calling 703-792-6470 for assistance.
