Keep Prince William Beautiful Receives Additional Money

Every year, Prince William County budgets for a $46,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for litter control.
The money passes through the non-profit, Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB), which helps with litter control efforts in the County. The litter control budget is adjusted based on the grant amount. This year, the Board received $52,040 from DEQ and budgeted and appropriated the extra $6,040 to KPWB.
Part of KPWB's mission is to educate the public about litter control and enhance attitudes and litter habits among County residents.
KPWB, a community partner that meets DEQ requirements to administer the money, also provides cleanup supplies, organizes volunteers to help clean up litter at spots across the County and organizes events to raise awareness about litter and litter control.
KPWB also encourages residents to participate in its "Adopt-A-Spot" Program, in which residents maintain their adopted spot and keep it free of litter and debris for a minimum of two years, according to KPWB's website.
