As the crisp autumn air settles in, Prince William County Parks and Recreation is gearing up for a vibrant November full of programs and seasonal activities for all ages. Whether you’re looking to stay active, learn something new, or celebrate the spirit of the season, November’s lineup promises to make the most of the final weeks of fall. Here are 10 things you can do this month with Prince William County Parks.

Try Our Prima Preschool Dance Program – Begins November 7
Our Prima Preschool Dance Program is for the preschool-aged student to explore dance, creativity, and socialization. Dancers will learn how to use movement to tell a story, develop fine and gross motor skills, and be introduced to multiple styles of movement including ballet and jazz. This class is perfect for the young student who likes to move to music and has fun interacting with friends. This is a drop-off program; child must be able to separate from guardian. Classes are held at Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center. Learn more and register here.

Learn How to Maximize Recovery from Workouts – November 7
Discover key recovery techniques like stretching, foam rolling, nutrition, and sleep to boost performance and prevent injury. Learn how recovery accelerates progress and enhances results for athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike. Note: this is an educational session only (no physical activity). Free for passholders of Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center and/or Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center. $12 drop-in for non-members. Register today.

Take an Adaptive Art Class – November 12
Join us on Wednesday, November 12 (6-7 pm) for a night filled with friendship and fun as we create wreaths in celebration of the season of giving. Each participant will leave with their own unique wreath. This class is specifically designed for people with disabilities. Click here to register. Experience History Through the Senses – November 13
Join us for a special education day at Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre tailored for autism and students with learning disabilities. Attendees will rotate through stations focusing on hands-on activities that American history through smell, touch, taste, feel, and sight. The program is geared for participants ages 6 to 18 years. Admission is $10 per student; chaperones are free. For bookings please complete the online interest form. (Tickets are not available online.)   

Celebrate National Take a Hike Day - November 17
Put on those hiking shoes and celebrate National Take a Hike Day (November 17) at one of our many parks and trails! Fall is the perfect time to get outside, take in the crisp fall air, and explore. The cooler weather and beautiful colors of fall make it one of most enjoyable times of the year to go hiking. There are also numerous health benefits you can experience from hiking. Hiking can help you build stronger muscles and bones, as well as improve your sense of balance. Being in nature can also boost your mood. According to a study done by researchers at Stanford University, spending quality time in the great outdoors reduces stress, calms anxiety and can lead to a lower risk of depression. Practice Yoga to Live Acoustic Guitar – November 18
Set your intention for gratitude and thankfulness with this special Vinyasa Yoga session intended to aid your attention and awareness on the good things you have received from life. Enjoy live acoustic guitar during your Shavasana. Free for passholders; $12 group exercise drop-in rate applies for non-passholders. Click here to register.

Set your intention for gratitude and thankfulness with this special sound bath and meditation session intended to aid your attention and awareness on the good things you have received from life. Together with the benefit of sound of sonic vibrations therapy which stimulates the brain, you may experience the potential positive benefits of reduced anxiety, improved sleep quality, balance and rebuilding the body. Free for passholders; $12 drop-in fee for non-members. Register today.

Attend a Free Lecture – November 20
In the late 19th century, vigilante justice struck Prince William County when tenant farmers accused of robbery and murder were seized and killed by a mob. Historian Kate Bitely explores this tragic episode in a free lecture revealing the social struggles, weak law enforcement and dangers of mob rule. The free lecture is sponsored by Prince William County Office of Historic Preservation and Historic Prince William. Ages 8+ welcome. Runs from 7-8:30 pm at Occoquan Town Hall.

Send Your Kids for a Night Out – November 21
Kids Night Out is a fun-filled evening designed to give children a night of adventure and excitement while parents enjoy some time off! This program is packed with activities like games, music, arts and crafts. Kids will get the chance to play, socialize, and explore in a safe, supervised environment, all while enjoying snacks and refreshments. Perfect for children who love to meet new friends and try new things, Kids Night Out is an energetic, creative, and interactive experience they won’t want to miss! Register today. For ages 5-12. Held at Veterans Memorial Park.

Pick Up Some Goodies at the Dale City Farmers Market
Open Sundays, from 8 am – 1 pm through November, our award-winning Dale City Farmers Market is a producer-only market, meaning all products must be grown or made by the seller. This is great news for both our buyers and our sellers as consumers have access to produce, meats, plants and other goods locally grown or created. With nearly 50 vendors in the summer and 30+ in the winter, it is one of the largest open-air markets in the region. Beginning December (through March), the Farmers Market will be open from 10 am – 1 pm. Please note no animals are allowed except for service animals. For a full list of vendors, click here.
