Free Equipment Orientation

The Equipment Orientation is the best way to get started. During your session, a member of our professional staff will review the basic and safe use of the fitness equipment along with information on fitness etiquette and facility policies.

Equipment Orientations are required for teens ages 12-15 (with parental consent) in order to use fitness equipment.

Upon completion:

  • Ages 12-13 are eligible to use the cardio equipment only.
  • Ages 14-15 are eligible to use the cardio and selectorized strength equipment.

Free Personal Training Consultation

Take advantage of a unique opportunity to meet one-on-one with a Certified Personal Trainer to discuss current lifestyle, health history and wellness goals. This session may also include customized activity. Check out our Personal Training page for more information!

Fitness Floor Etiquette

Respect & Consider Others
• The fitness areas are family-friendly places of mutual health and wellness.
• All equipment is considered shared property. Allow others to “work in” and refrain from resting on equipment between sets. Use equipment with care and do not slam, bang, drop, or throw equipment.
• To not disturb others, refrain from having audible video/phone calls or amplified music.
• Camera/Video use is strictly prohibited.
• Inappropriate or abusive comments, language, noises, and horseplay will not be tolerated.
• Gum, food, and open container beverages are not allowed.
• No heavy odors or perfumes.
• Follow a 30-minute limit (including warm-up and cool-down) on all cardio equipment, especially during peak times.
• Solicitation of products and services on county property is strictly prohibited.

Attire requirements
• No bare feet. Closed-toe, secure, athletic footwear only.
• Offensive, indecent and/or explicitly revealing attire is not acceptable.

Age Restrictions
• Regardless of parental/adult supervision, children under 12 are not permitted in/on fitness areas/equipment.
• Ages 12-15 are permitted to use age-specific fitness areas/equipment only upon completion of a required Equipment Orientation, are required to always carry their Orientation Card on them and must provide card upon request from a staff member.

Safety
• Exercise is not without risk. Report any equipment, facility, safety issues or injuries immediately to a staff member. Abide by staff requests to discontinue any unsafe practices.
• For safety and liability purposes offering exercise advice, guidance, or instruction to others is not recommended.
• When lifting heavy weights, always use a spotter— ask a Fitness Staff member for assistance.
• Return all equipment to designated areas after use.
• Wipes are provided and wiping down equipment after use is vital to prevent the spread of illness.
• Phone/video calls (even hands free) are not safe during active exercise and must be taken out of the fitness areas.
• Keep personal belongings out of way and secured by utilizing lockers in locker rooms.

Outside Instructor Policy
• Non-Parks, Recreation, and Tourism (DPRT) employees, instructors, personal trainers, coaches, or teachers are not permitted to use the facility for private or group instruction.

Code of Conduct
• All customers in facility must always abide by the DPRT Code of Conduct and all staff directives of adherence. A copy may be obtained at the Front Desk.

 

Metabolism Testing

Weight management success is a simple and affordable test away with the BodyGem device (the same test used on The Biggest Loser). This fast an convenient breath test is an easy way to measure your resting metabolic rate (RMR) and can be administered by one of our certified personal trainers in 10 minutes or less. In addition, you will receive a comprehensive report that provides detailed results and personalized recommendations to review with your trainer. Price is $60.
