Office of Consumer & Family Affairs

Program Goal: The Office of Consumer and Family Affairs ensures quality services for the citizens of Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. This is done through the promotion of cooperative partnerships with consumers; linking  consumers with agency resources, and the provision of education, training and resources on policy and regulations that impact the rights of mental health, intellectual disability and substance abuse consumers. 


Services Provided: Community Services (CS) Office of Consumer and Family Affairs: 

  • Provides a single point of contact for CS customers who have difficulty connecting with an appropriate service, or who are unable to get needed information or resolve conflicts involving services;
  • Provides human rights advocacy to consumers or advocates who feel that a consumer’s human rights have been violated, through assistance with filing an client rights summary, informal or formal complaint/grievance; follow-up contact to ensure complaint was resolved; and reporting of complaint to the state;
  • Provides education, training and support opportunities designed to educate staff on consumer rights, consumer advocacy and the grievance process, educates and empowers consumers, provides agency support to the Community Services Human Rights Committee and provides information to advocacy groups, non-profit agencies, current consumers and new consumers.
