Pool & Aquatics Area Guidelines
- Youth under 12 years of age must be supervised by a
responsible person age 16 or older. - Proper swimwear required.
- Air flotation devices are not permitted.
- Approved life jackets are available.
Swimwear Guidelines
Proper swim attire is required in all pools. The intent of enforcing a swim attire policy is to maintain a clean, safe and inviting environment for our patrons. Clothing, other than swimwear, can create problems with water clarity, disinfectant systems, and filtration. Prince William County Parks & Recreation staff have the right to deny anyone us of pools for non-approved swimwear.
Swim Lessons
We aim to build on existing skill levels for all ages and develop new ones for efficient techniques. Our classes are tailored to the skill of the student, whether the student is an infant, child, teen or adult.
Learn to Swim Program
Learning to swim is important. In the U.S., drowning is the second leading cause of injury/death of infants and children under 15.
Our swim program follows American Red Cross guidelines, and all teachers are certified Water Safety Instructors. Classes are offered year-round for infants (6 months) through adults (Swim Level Screening - Assessment of swimming abilities for classes, high school sports, etc. By appointment only. Fee: $6)
Child & Parent (ages 6 months to 3 years old)
Parents are taught to safely work with their child in the water, how to encourage the child to participate fully and try the skills. (children who are not potty trained must wear swim diapers.) Learn More/Register
Preschool 1, Preschool 1-3, Preschool 2-3 (ages 3-5 years old)
Orient children to the aquatic environment and gain basic aquatic skills – blowing bubbles, front and back floats with support and more. Builds upon skills learned in previous class in a step-by-step progression. Learn More/Register
Level 1-2 (ages 5-12 years old)
Helps participants feel comfortable in the water. Elementary aquatic skills are taught. Gives participants success with fundamental skills. Learn More/Register
Level 3 (ages 5-12 years old)
Builds on skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice. Front crawl, elementary backstroke. Flutter, scissors, dolphin and breaststroke kicks. Build on fundamentals of treading water. Learn More/Register
Level 4 (ages 5-12 years old)
Develops confidence in strokes learned in previous levels, builds upon kicks learned and introduces back/breast strokes. Learn More/Register
Level 5 (ages 5-12 years old)
Coordinate & refine all swimming strokes, swim longer distances. Learn flip turns and tread water for 5 minutes. Learn More/Register
Teen/Adult Beginner (ages 13+)
Help participants gain basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes. Learn skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around the water. Learn More/Register
Water Aerobics Classes
The buoyancy of the water eases strain on joints and muscles while creating resistance to improve strength. Swimming skills are not required. Classes are offered Monday - Friday mornings. Group Fitness Schedule for Aquatics/Land.
Family Swim
- Family Swim is available during all open swim hours. Fee: $18 for up to four family members.

- Wishlist: If there is a program or class you would like to save as registration has not opened or you are not ready to checkout, add it you Wishlist! Your wish list allows you to save programs for checkout at a later time.
To do this, make sure you are logged into your account.
Once you’ve clicked on the class or program, click the three dots on the far right followed by ‘Add to Wishlist’.
Once registration is open and you are ready to checkout, simply click on your Wishlist, under “My Account Options” and move your desired program to the cart.
