The Historical Online Portal (HOP) of the Circuit Court Clerk now includes historical deeds recorded before the American Revolution to the early 1900’s. Among the deeds available for online inquiry is the Stolen Deed Book-Liber A (Stolen Historical Records Returned to the Prince William County Circuit Court (pwcva.gov). Launched in early 2023, the HOP currently offers access to Deeds, Wills, and Lists of Heirs.

Genealogists, scholars, attorneys, local historians, researchers, and residents can use the Historical Online Portal to find documents filed in the courts up until the early twentieth (20th) century from anywhere in the world. The historical information is viable for locating relatives, properties, ownership, and artifacts of evidence. The historical information from the HOP can provide realistic insight for implementing historic preservation and connecting people.

Funded by a technology grant obtained by Jacqueline Smith, the Clerk of Circuit Court, the Historical Online Portal places no additional cost on taxpayers. Clerk Smith plans to continue adding historical topics to the HOP in the coming months.
