While the kids may be heading back to school this month, summer isn’t over just yet. We’ve got a fun-filled line up of activities in August for both adults and kids. We invite you to spend the last days of summer with us here at Prince William County Parks!

Fridays at 5 – August 11 and 25, 5 – 9 p.m.
If you haven’t made it to our free outdoor summer concert series yet, then now is your chance. Join us for the last two Fridays at 5 concerts featuring bands Lloyd & Friends on August 11 and the 9th Gear on August 25

Miracle League – Saturday, August 19, 9 a.m.
Bring the whole family and come on out to cheer on our Miracle League baseball team! The first game of the season will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 9 a.m. at the Dr. Richard Tami Miracle Field at George Hellwig Memorial Park. We guarantee you will walk away feeling inspired by this special program. If you know of a child or adult with mental and/or physical disabilities that would like to participate in the program, registration is still open. 

Movie in the Park – The Super Mario Bros. Movie – Saturday, August 19, 7-9 p.m.
A movie in the park is a must do for those warm summer nights. Come join us on August 19 to take in a movie under the stars at Veterans Memorial Park*. Come early to get a good seat. The movie, which will The Super Mario Bros. Movie, will begin at sunset. Please bring your own lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Parent attendance required for under the age of 16. Registration is required and is filling up fast! Deadline to register is three days before the program date. Register today.

*In the event of inclement weather, movie will be held in the Veterans Park Community Center (still bring a chair or blanket).

Battle of Kettle Run Anniversary Weekend – Saturday and Sunday, August 26-27
Join Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park staff and volunteers on the 161st anniversary of Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson's capture of Bristoe Station and the Battle of Kettle Run—the opening round of what would become the Second Battle of Manassas. This August 27th battle, while small, was bloody and took a heavy toll on the regiments that fought there. Visit the park on the actual anniversary for specialized walking tours that will make this forgotten battle come to life. Battlefield tours will be offered at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. All programs are free; donations are encouraged. Register here.

Once in a Blue Moon Yoga Practice on the Boardwalk – Wednesday, August 30, 8 – 9:15 p.m.
When there are two full moons in one Month, the second is called a Blue Moon. This moon on the evening of August 30 will also be a super moon, making it extra unusual. Get ready for a fun, creative Yoga flow to build heat and strength as well open your body and celebrate all the stimulating full moon energy and together with sound bath waves attain muscles relaxation, reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality. Please bring a yoga mat, blanket and water and be sure to wear appropriate clothing. Event will take place on the Neabsco Creek Boardwalk, south deck. Park at 15125 Blackburn Rd, Woodbridge. *Please note it is about a 30-minute walk from the parking lot pavilion to the south deck of the boardwalk. Please arrive early. Event may be canceled in the case of inclement weather. Register today.
