No school? No child care? No problem! Send your kids to us and we’ll keep them engaged and entertained. Prince William County Parks offers a variety of programs for kids specifically scheduled on those teacher workdays and and other holidays when schools are closed. Check out some of programs below.
Camp Chinn – Various Dates + Winter Break
Camp Chinn, held at Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center, offers a fun full day camp option for kids ages 6-14. Join us on October 13, November 3 and November 4. Before and after care are also available for an additional fee. Students can make new friends in a safe, supervised environment while participating in recreational games and activities, outdoor adventures, arts and crafts projects, STEAM crafts, swimming time, and much more. Students will have the opportunity to actively engage in activities and hobbies of interest while also trying their hand at new experiences and teamwork opportunities. Roblox Imaginative Game Design – September 23
On Tuesday, September 23 (9am-4pm) kids ages 6-14 can join us for a Roblox day camp. Participants will advance their coding, design, and game development skills, tinkering with Roblox Studio and the Lua programming language it employs. “Roblox, Imaginative Game Design” provides the fundamental coding concepts and techniques to eventually move on to AP Computer Science. Children must bring their own lunch, snack, and a water bottle. This program is instructed by CyberTeck Academy. Register today. Sessions are available by age group—6-9 yrs and 10-14 yrs.
Yummy Art – October 2
Children ages 5-12 will enjoy this fun and unique art class where they will make art from food! We’ll build spaghetti sculptures, learn about food artists, paint a chocolate portrait and much more. (No peanut or peanut oils will be used.) Campers must bring their own lunch, snack, and a water bottle. This program is instructed by Abrakadoodle. Two sessions available by age, 5-8 yrs and 9-12 yrs. Register today.
Tween Cuisine – October 13
Do you have a budding cook on your hands? Our Tween Cuisine program is a wonderful opportunity for tweens to learn the basics of cooking through a fun and educational program instructed by the Prince William 4-H. The program focuses on healthy nutrition, safe cooking techniques, and meal preparation life skills. Participants must bring their own lunch, snack, and a water bottle. Program takes place on Monday, October 13, 9:30am-3:30pm. Click here to register.
Chess Camp – October 13
Kids ages 6-13 can learn to play chess with Silver Knights (formerly Magnus Academy). They’ve taught 100,000 children including national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn and just have fun. Participants are broken up in groups by skill level. Activities include learning the rules, openings, tactics, endgames, studying master games, and playing lots of games against other students. Participants will take breaks for snacks, lunch and recess. Participants must bring their own lunch, two snacks, and a water bottle. All equipment provided. Click here to register.
