From pickleball to basketball, skateboarding, tennis and more, Prince William County Parks and Recreation offers a variety of sports programs, clinics and instructional classes for people of all ages. Whether you’re looking to learn a new sport or brush up on your skills, we’ve got a class for you. Keep reading to find out what’s coming up this fall.
Pickleball
We offer beginner to intermediate classes for what is still America’s fastest growing sport. In our level 1 classes you will learn all the basic strokes, including dinks, volleys, forehands, backhands, and the serve. You will also learn all the rules and how to keep score. In level 2 you will build on your skills and master new ones to take your game to the next level. And finally, our level 3 class focuses on how to play the game more strategically and to fine-tune your skills. Get in the game and find your class today. Learn more and register here. Archery
What’s more fun than learning archery? Learning it with your family! In our family archery class you will learn the fundamentals of archery from USA Archery certified instructors. Each participant will learn the range rules, bow and arrow safety, proper form, and stance. All equipment will be provided. Program is available at Silver Lake Park and Veterans Memorial Park. Basketball
At Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center, children ages 4-15 can learn the fundamentals of basketball. Our instructors will guide athletes through different drills geared to improving ball handling, shooting, passing, defensive stance, and more. Each session has been designed to engage your child in game-like situations and progress towards scrimmages. Class sessions are available by age group (4-6; 7-10; and 11-15.) We also offer a Basketball FUNdamentals program at Veterans Memorial Park. The program is tailored to young athletes who want to develop their basketball skills in a fun and encouraging setting. The class is open to all skill levels and focuses on teaching the fundamentals of the game, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive techniques. Led by experienced coaches, each session emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and building confidence on the court. Through drills, practice games, and one-on-one instruction, participants will improve their athletic abilities while fostering a love for basketball. Skateboarding
Children ages 8-15 can learn to skate in one of our skateboarding programs offered at Veterans Memorial Park. We offer a Let’s Go Skate beginner class that is perfect for newcomers looking to learn in a safe and encouraging setting, or an intermediate-advanced class that can help you take your skating to the next level. Our Let’s Go Skate event is designed for skaters of all levels, from those just starting out to intermediate riders looking to refine their skills. Kids can participate in age and ability-based groups and receive expert instruction on essential skateboarding techniques like ollies, manuals, and kickflips. Enjoy exciting skating games, park activities, safety demos, and friendly contests throughout the day. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to helping you progress, build confidence, and connect with the skateboarding community. Remember your pads and helmet, and bring your board – let's skate! Tennis
We’re excited to offer tennis lessons for adults, teens and kids, and even tiny tots tennis! Participants will receive expert instruction in basic strokes, court etiquette, and match play strategies, empowering players to confidently step onto the court and enjoy the game of tennis.
