DIRECTOR'S BIO 

Courtney S. Tierney was hired as the Director of the Prince William County Department of Social Services in May of 2015. Prior to that, she was Director of the Prince William Area Agency on Aging from October 2006 to May 2015. Before joining Prince William County, Ms. Tierney was Chief Operating Officer of the Area Agency on Aging of Southwestern Illinois.

Ms. Tierney’s professional experience also includes serving on the staff of the Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois, as the Patient Representative and Co-Director of the Public Relations Office of Portsmouth General Hospital, and as Asst. Publications Editor of Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, TX. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Journalism (specializing in nonprofit communication) from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX, and a Master of Social Work from the Brown School of Social Work, Washington University, St. Louis, MO, specializing in Management and Gerontology.
