The Prince William County Human Rights Commission is now accepting nominations for its annual Human Rights Awards, recognizing individuals, community groups, businesses, schools and youth who have made outstanding contributions to promoting equality for all people in the county.

Nominees must be county residents who have championed human rights in meaningful ways that strengthened and enriched the Prince William community. Nominations should clearly describe the candidates’ leadership, excellence and courage, and demonstrate how their efforts have advanced the cause of equality for all people of all ages.

Submissions should be approximately 250 words and outline the nominee’s contributions and include any organizations they are affiliated with, along with the roles they hold within those groups or in the community.

Nominations close Dec. 5, 2025.

This year’s award recipients will be announced during the Universal Human Rights Day program in January 2026.

Past honorees have been recognized for promoting civic engagement, expanding voter awareness and supporting community needs across the county. Others have promoted dignity and hope by advocating for those experiencing homelessness or created platforms for veteran and military spouses to showcase and grow their businesses by partnering with local, state and federal veteran organizations.
