Winter Reading Is Back This January

Winter is the perfect time to slow down, stay cozy, and enjoy something new—and Prince William Public Libraries’ Winter Reading program is a great place to start. Winter Reading makes it easy to start a new hobby, try a new book genre, or enjoy everything the library has to offer. 

Sign up for Winter Reading through January 31 by picking up a bookmark at any PWPL location or by tracking your progress on the Beanstack Tracker app. Complete 10 activities or read 10 books before January 31 to earn a prize and be entered into a drawing. Thank you to our Winter Reading sponsors, Children’s Art Classes, Synergy HomeCare Lake Ridge, and Urban Air, for supporting this year’s program.

Winter Scavenger Hunt: Dumfries 
All Ages/Families 
January 2–31 
Mama Razzle took the Razzle Family on a special trip over winter break. Can you find and unscramble the letters to figure out where? 

Winter Macramé Gnomes: Montclair 
Adults 
Wednesday, January 7, 5:30 p.m. 
Celebrate the winter season by crafting a macramé gnome. No previous experience needed. All supplies provided. First come, first served until capacity is reached. 

Tween and Teen Takeover: Winter Hygge–Danish Inspired Coziness: Nokesville 
Grades 6–12 
Thursday, January 8, 7:00–8:30 p.m. 
The library will open one night a month just for tweens and teens! In January, come make a candle and sip hot cocoa for a relaxed gathering. Registration required. 

Mini Winter "Knit” Hat: Dumfries 
Grades 6–12 
January 12–16 
No sewing skills are necessary to make this decorative little hat. It's easy to do with a template and simple knots. 

Fun with Flannel–Sew a Bandana: Central 
Teens/Adults 
Wednesday, January 14, 5:30–7:00 p.m. 
Keep those bangs back in the blustery winter winds with this fun and functional sewing project. All materials provided. Registration required to join the waitlist. 

Magic Ball of Light: Winter Holiday Author Event: Montclair 
Ages 8–12 
Tuesday, January 27, 5:00 p.m. 
Meet local author Margie Hamner as she reads a chapter from her new children’s book, "Magic Ball of Light: Winter Holiday," then create a mini ball of light. 

There’s even a bonus for Level Up participants: students in grades K–12 who complete Winter Reading by January 31 will receive a limited-edition lapel pin.
