DEPUTY CHIEF, Kim Stewart

The position of Deputy Chief has the responsibility of assisting the Fire Chief in planning, directing, and coordinating the overall operation of the Department of Fire and Rescue.    In addition, the Deputy Chief is responsible for providing the support necessary to  maintain the vision, mission, and organizational philosophy of the department. In the absence of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Chief is entrusted with the  overall operations of the department, to include budget preparations, legal matters, staffing, promotional processes, departmental expenditures and purchase requests,
and emergency service delivery.

The Community Safety Section is under the direction of Assistant Chief Matt Smolsky. He is responsible for the management of Fire Marshal’s Office, Public Education, Public Information, Office of Emergency Management and Hazardous Materials. The Community Safety Section is responsible for a vast array of duties to include: reducing the community's risk to fire loss, fire inspections, fire protection plans review and system testing, fire and arson investigation, accident and injury prevention, community awareness and outreach, public information and education, disaster preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery, and environmental response and safety. The Operations Section is under the direction of Assistant Chief Kurt Heindrichs. He is responsible for the management of Field Battalion Chiefs and Special Operations. The Operations Section is comprised primarily of the personnel who respond to daily emergency calls throughout Prince William County. For more information, click here.

 

ASSISTANT CHIEF of SYSTEMS SUPPORT, Lance McClintock

The Systems Support Section is under the direction of Assistant Chief Lance McClintock. He is responsible for the management of Human Resources, Training Division, Planning & Logistics, Distribution Center, Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), Communications/IT, Health & Safety and Management Services. The Systems Support Section manages department programs and activities from “behind the scenes” to ensure prompt, efficient and effective service to the Prince William County community.
