Virginia Commonwealth University Partnership for People with Disabilities (VCU-PPD) and the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) is conducting a survey of Area Agency on Aging (AAA) clients across Virginia. The aim of the National Core Indicators-Aging and Disabilities (NCI-AD) Adult Consumer Survey is to gather information about the services that AAA clients receive, their needs and preferences, and their quality of life. A random sample of AAA clients across Virginia will be selected for the survey and contacted by VCU-PPD staff. The NCI-AD survey is administered by VCU-PPD staff over the telephone. Participating in the survey is voluntary and completely anonymous. Your voice matters! If you are contacted by VCU-PPD, please consider participating. If you have any questions, you may contact Kathy Lee-Meredith by phone at 703.792.7150 or email [email protected] For more information about the NCI-AD Adult Consumer Survey can also be found at this website: http://www.nci.partnership.vcu.edu.

WHAT’S FOR LUNCH?

The Prince William Area Agency on Aging offers nutritious meals to older adults through two programs: Meals on Wheels Program and Daily Congregate Meal Program at the Senior Center(s). All meals are freshly prepared on site by our resident chef and contain one-third your recommended daily intake. Menus are reviewed by certified dieticians and vary every day. We encourage those who can attend lunch at one of our senior centers to do so. Lunch is a great time to meet new people or visit with friends.

MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAM

Meals on Wheels are nutritious meals delivered to the homes of older persons who are homebound. Meals are prepared at the senior center and are delivered by volunteers. Meals are currently delivered weekly on Tuesdays, with emergency shelf stable meals provided in the event that hot meals cannot be delivered. A suggested minimum donation of $1.50 per meal is requested. To inquire about qualifying for this program contact the Prince William Area Agency on Aging at 703-792-6374.

LUNCH AT THE SENIOR CENTER

Lunch is provided Monday through Friday at both the Manassas and Woodbridge senior centers. These meals, part of the federally-funded congregate meal program, provide the opportunity for persons aged 60 and over to enjoy a fully balanced meal and socialize with other older adults in the community. A suggested donation of $1.50 per meal is accepted. Visit the Prince William Area Senior Centers page for directions and upcoming menus.
