Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism along with generous funding from the Hylton Foundation want to send your students to the parks this summer. Join us for a program at a Historic site or a Park site to explore the richness of Prince William County.

Summer Science in the Park Programs:

June 26, 2021, 10 a.m. - Noon | Animals Around Us Locust Shade Park
Take a hike to encounter the habitats of animals in the park. Play games to learn about their food chains, predators, and prey. Discuss how to care for their habitats while in the park. Explore and discover more with hands-on activities in the park.

July 31, 2021, 10 a.m. - Noon – Ecosystems – Silver Lake Park
What ecosystems exist in the park? Who lives in the park? Explore and discover the inhabitants and impacts they have on each other. Discover the answers to these questions and more with hands-on experiences on the park.

August 28, 2021, 10 a.m. - Noon | Water Everywhere Lake Ridge Park
Animals and plants need it to survive, it shapes the environment in which we live, and it can teach us so many things about the physical world. Come explore water with us in the park using hands-on activities, games, and more.

Hands-On History with Prince William’s Historic Sites:

June 12, 2021, 10 a.m. - Noon Rippon Lodge Historic Site
Learn about and experience Colonial era activities, such as laundry, cooking, lawn games, soap carving, and more at Rippon Lodge Historic Site this summer. 

July 10, 2021, 10 a.m. - Noon Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre
Explore good citizenship and the difference between past and present at Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre with hands-on activities through its five historic buildings. 

August 14, 2021, 10 a.m. - Noon Ben Lomond Historic Site
Experience life on a 19th century farm and the daily activities children performed to help make farms successful over 150 years ago.
